These enameled copper earrings have a pretty cool back story, as all my favorite jewelry pieces do. The patterned copper disks started out as part of a huge, heavy, copper platter. It probably hung on someone’s wall until the hanger on the back broke off and it ended up on a shelf at the Goodwill Store. It was dirty and tarnished, but oh! that lovely, embossed copper! I just knew it needed a second life as something beautiful.  I bought it for something ridiculous like $3.95, and took it home.

With some effort, the heavy gauge copper  was cut into disks. Enamel and Amazonite beads transformed the little copper circles into jewelry.  The final step was to apply a greenish patina  to create a look reminiscent of the warm glow of historic copper statues admired in art museums. The result: distinctive  earrings  with a hint of history that are simply elegant  for dressy occasions, and elegantly simple with your favorite jeans.

These enameled copper earrings make a thoughtful gift for a friend who believes in reusing and preserving things with a history and intrinsic beauty. Kudos to the person who donated that copper platter to Goodwill instead of sending it to a landfill. And kudos to you and me for giving it a new life. Feels good, no?  And so, so right!!
